BERLIN (AP) — German security forces are hunting for the person that rammed a truck into a crowded Christmas market in Berlin yesterday, killing 12 people and injuring dozens more. A claim of responsibility by the Islamic State group came not long after German prosecutors said they had released a man picked up near the scene of the attack, initially suspected of driving the truck. The man who was released, a Pakistani, was taken into custody based on witness descriptions.

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Investigators from Turkey and Russia are trying to determine if an off-duty police officer who killed Russia's ambassador to Turkey planned the attack alone. The diplomat was gunned down while speaking at a photo exhibition. A team of 18 Russian investigators and foreign ministry officials are working with local investigators.

DETROIT (AP) — A widely shared story that claimed in headlines that Michigan had mass Democratic voter fraud and that more than half of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's Detroit vote faced disqualification is false. State election officials say there is no proof to back up either claim. The story was posted by on Dec. 6 by Higgins News Network. Donald Trump scored a narrow victory over Hillary Clinton in Michigan.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — The number of people facing criminal charges has grown from nine to 13 in Michigan over the water crisis in the city of Flint. The latest to face charges including two state-appointed emergency managers and two local utility officials. The latest four are accused of keeping Flint residents on a water system that became contaminated by lead when the water source was switched to the corrosive Flint River.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Disney and Aeropostale are among six retailers that have agreed to stop using on-call scheduling, which forces workers to call before a scheduled shift to find out if they have to work that day. The change follows an investigation by attorneys general in nine states including New York. Worker advocates say the system creates too much unpredictability for employees.
