RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Highway Patrol says a charter bus carrying University of Wyoming marching band members to the Poinsettia Bowl was involved in a crash on an icy stretch of Interstate 80 near Rawlins.
However, the patrol says no students were hurt thanks to the bus driver not losing complete control of the bus during the accident.
The accident occurred about noon Saturday about 3 miles west of Rawlins when the bus was hit by a pickup truck that lost control on the ice while attempting to pass it.
The patrol says the bus went into a side ditch, bu the driver was able to regain control and steer it back onto the shoulder of the highway and bring it to a stop.
The bowl game is in San Diego.
