OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Cameron Higgins threw for a career-high five touchdowns as Weber State defeated Dixie State 44-7 on Saturday night.
Higgins completed his first 14 passes and finished 18-for-23 for 333 yards with one interception before leaving the game midway through the fourth quarter. He was 15-of-16 in the first half as the Wildcats (2-1) built a 34-7 lead.
Cody Nakamura had three touchdown catches and Trevyn Smith ran for two TDs while rushing for 116 yards on 26 carries. Weber State gained 470 yards and held Dixie State (1-2) to 280.
Higgins threw a 4-yard touchdown to Cody Nakamura to start the scoring, then connected with Mike Phillips on a 62-yard touchdown later in the first period. Higgins threw a 37-yard touchdown to Nakamura in the second quarter and Trevyn Smith scored on runs of 10 and 14 yards later in the period.
Aaron Davis scored the only touchdown for Dixie State on a 1-yard run.
Davis finished with 45 yards on 11 carries and Dexter Hill completed 15 of 26 passes for 161 yards for Dixie State, a Div. II program.
Weber State's Jon Williams kicked a 37-yard field goal in the third quarter.
