SALT LAKE CITY — Things are starting to take shape in the Pac-12.

With one week left in the regular season, both the league’s North and South divisions are up for grabs. No. 12 Utah lost to Oregon, so the Utes are out of the South equation, and No. 13 USC is still in the talks. Looking up north, next week’s Apple Cup is the most meaningful in its history.

Here’s a look at how the teams played in Week 12.

Arizona (2-9, 0-8 Pac-12) at Oregon State (3-8, 2-6)

Score: Oregon State 42, Arizona 17

Game recap: Oregon State relied on an accurate Marcus McMaryion, who connected with five different players for scores. The Beavers got off to a quick start, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter and led 21-10 at halftime. The Wildcats were scoreless in the third quarter as the Beavers continued to find the end zone. When Arizona scored again, it was the middle of the fourth quarter and Oregon State had a double-digit lead.

Key stat: McMaryion threw a career-high five touchdowns, finishing 16-of-19 for 265 yards.

Conference implication: The Beavers have improved from last season, which is just what head coach Gary Andersen wants. Their quarterback put up impressive numbers and their run game was established with Ryan Nall’s 124 yards and one touchdown. The Beavers won’t go bowling, but they have one more game against rival Oregon. Whoever wins next week’s game won’t have too much to brag about, other than one will have a better conference record.

The Wildcats’ season included a plague of injuries, and it happened again Saturday. Quarterback Anu Solomon started for the first time since the season-opener, but left the game in the first quarter due to a toe injury. Next week is Arizona’s last chance to win its first conference game of the season. The Wildcats must do it against Arizona State in the annual Duel in the Desert.

Next opponent: Oregon State hosts Oregon; Arizona hosts Arizona State.

Arizona State (5-6, 2-6) at Washington (10-1, 7-1)

Score: Washington 44, Arizona State 18

Game recap: After a sluggish start, the Huskies got back on track and locked another win. By the time Arizona State scored its first points — from a 50-yard field goal — Washington already had 30 points. The Sun Devils cut the Huskies’ lead with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but the Huskies were already off and running.

Key stat: Washington quarterback Jake Browning threw two interceptions in the game’s first 16 minutes, ending Arizona State’s steak of four consecutive games without an interception.

Conference implication: The Huskies regained confidence after last week’s loss to USC. They’ll need to play at a high-level once again when they face rival Washington State next week. This season’s Apple Cup is arguably the biggest matchup ever between the Washington schools, as the Pac-12 North title up for grabs.

One more win. That’s all the Sun Devils need to become bowl eligible. It’s not that easy of a task, considering Arizona State has dropped five straight games, but facing an injured Arizona team in the Territorial Cup may be just what the doctor ordered.

Next opponent: Washington travels to Washington State; Arizona State travels to Arizona.

Oregon (4-7, 2-6) at Utah (8-3, 5-3)

Score: Oregon 30, Utah 28

Game recap: The game was closer than most thought it would be. The Utes led 7-3 at halftime and 14-3 midway through the third quarter. The teams traded touchdowns and the lead changed four times before Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert sealed the upset. With two seconds left in the game, Herbert found Darren Carrington in the corner of the end zone. Originally ruled incomplete, the call was overturned after it was reviewed, showing the receiver was barely inbounds with control of the ball.

Key stat: Shadowed from the upset, two Utes hit milestones. Defensive end Hunter Dimick eclipsed the school sack record, bringing his career total to 29. Running back Joe Williams surpassed 1,000 rushing yards on the year with a season total of 1,088.

Conference implication: This was a heartbreaking loss for the Utes. Celebrating its seniors at home against one of the league’s weakest teams, Utah lost its chance at a division title. Consistency disappears every November for the Utes, leaving the team and fans frustrated.

Oregon won’t go bowling, but this win is a huge confidence booster. Next for the Ducks is the annual civil war game against Oregon State. Both teams have the same conference record entering the rivalry matchup.

Next opponent: Oregon travels to Oregon State; Utah travels to Colorado.

Stanford (8-3, 6-3) at California (4-7, 2-6)

Score: Stanford 45, Cal 31

Game recap: The Cardinal won the Big Game for the seventh straight year. Much of the credit goes to running back Christian McCaffrey, who had three touchdowns. At the half, Stanford led 17-14. The Bears thought they were in a good place to finish the game strong, but McCaffrey loaded on the touchdowns and California couldn’t catch up.

Key stat: McCaffrey rushed for 284 yards on 31 carries, breaking his own school single game record of 243 set last year against UCLA.

Conference implication: Stanford’s conference schedule is done as it gets ready to play Rice next week. The Cardinal can reach a 10-win season by closing the season with a win and winning a bowl game. Not too bad for a team that was once 4-3.

Things haven’t been going well as of late for a Bears team that beat ranked teams Texas and Utah earlier this season. Another losing season is going in the books, an all too common theme for Cal.

Next opponent: Stanford hosts Rice; California hosts UCLA.

USC (8-3, 7-2) at UCLA (4-7, 2-6)

Score: USC 36, UCLA 14

Game recap: The first half went back-and-forth until the Trojans tacked on 10 points at the end of the second quarter. The Bruins scored first in the game and again in the beginning of the second quarter. UCLA wouldn’t score again and USC continued to add points to its score.

Key stat: After the first quarter, the Trojans faced a deficit for the first time since their now seven-game winning streak started.

Conference implication: The Trojans’ conference schedule is done and they’ll finish the regular season next week against Notre Dame. There’s still hope for a South title for USC, but it depends on who wins next week’s Utah-Colorado competition. Should Utah beat Colorado, the division will go in the Trojans’ favor thanks to their upset over the Buffs in Week 6.

With this loss, the Bruins are officially out of bowl eligibility for the first time since 2010. The injury bug found its way to UCLA and the team couldn’t stay consistent.

Next opponent: USC hosts Notre Dame; UCLA travels to California.

Washington State (8-3, 7-1) at Colorado (9-2, 7-1)

Score: Colorado 38, Washington State 24

Game recap: The Buffs spoiled the Cougars’ eight-game win streak with this win. Washington State led 17-14 at the half, but quarterback Sefo Liufau ran in for two touchdowns and teamed up with tailback Phillip Lindsay to get the come-from-behind win.

Key stat: Colorado rushed for 258 yards against the league’s best rushing defense.

Conference implication: The Buffs’ quest for a South division title is theirs for the taking. All they need to do is beat Utah next week to win the division. If they lose, USC has the tiebreaker over Colorado. Should the Buffs get it, they’ll either meet Washington — which they haven’t played this season — or have a rematch against Washington State.

Washington State may get revenge against Colorado in a couple of weeks. If the Cougars beat in-state rival Washington in next week’s Apple Cup and the Buffs get a win over the Utes, then the rematch is on. The Rumble in the Rockies and the Apple Cup are games not to miss.

Next opponent: Colorado hosts Utah; Washington State hosts Washington.
