COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — Police are investigating accusations that a school behavior specialist body-slammed a 13-year-old boy three times, causing the boy to have to get one of his legs amputated.
Columbus Police Lt. Consuelo Askew confirmed to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (http://bit.ly/2f7XvYi) on Friday that investigators are looking into an incident at Muscogee County School District.
She declined to say who is being investigated. The family of Montravious Thomas says the teenager was assaulted Sept. 12 by behavioral specialist Bryant Mosley who says he had to "physically restrain" Thomas because of his behavior. Thomas was hospitalized and his right leg was later amputated below the knee.
The incident occurred at the Edgewood Student Services Center, an alternative school for students who have had behavioral issues.
