PROVO -- Brigham Young University will immediately make changes, as it accepts the recommendations of an advisory panel looking into the way sexual misconduct is investigated on campus.

In all, the Advisory Council made 23 recommendations for change. The school's president announced it would be adopting all 23 recommendations, starting with five that will start immediately.

Among the immediate actions is a move for BYU's Title IX office, which until now had been housed in the same physical location as the Honor Code office. It is moving to a new location. The school is also amending its sexual misconduct policy to add an amnesty clause. In part, it reads, "At BYU, being a victim of sexual misconduct is never a violation of the Honor Code." The intent is to make sure victims are not afraid to report crimes in fear that they could face an Honor Code investigation.
