Eight years ago when California native John Lewis came to Utah looking for property to develop, he had no idea the Ogden Valley even existed. John had been looking for property in the Western United States for four years, but he hadn't found what he wanted. He was looking for something he could develop from the ground-up, and almost by chance, John stumbled upon the Ogden Valley while doing an Internet search.
John was already familiar with the Park City area, and people told him to look for property there. But he wanted a place that hadn't been developed. He was looking not only for open land, but a place to raise his family. After a visit to Utah, John fell in love with the Ogden Valley and the people and decided to move there. He was impressed with the people and discovered they also wanted to put family first. He tells me the valley was 100 percent undervalued, and he couldn't believe no one else had developed the area. Located less than one hour from the airport, John knew he could attract people to the area.
John started Lewis Homes and began developing. Nestled in the picturesque valley and set on the Wolf Creek golf course are the three projects John developed: Red Moose Lodge, Fairway Oaks and Moose Hollow. Complete with waterfalls, bridges and greens, Red Moose Lodge is a popular place to have weddings and family gatherings. John tells me August is the busiest month of the year for the lodge-style hotel because of large groups using the facilities. Fairway Oaks is a development of single-family houses and Moose Hollow is 230 condos available for rent year round.
As an Ogden native, I'm impressed with how much Ogden has grown. John's developments are all close to ski resorts, fishing, golfing, hiking and much more, and shuttle access is available. It's true that the Ogden Valley has something for everyone.
