WALDEN, Colo. (AP) — A juvenile has been charged with starting a wildfire that has burned 60 square miles in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming. Colorado prosecutors announced the arson charges Friday but didn't release any details, including the suspect's name and age or how the fire started.
JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — A study says wresting control over vast swaths of federal land in Wyoming from the U.S. government and transferring management to the state would be costly and would not provide the benefits that proponents of the idea suggest. The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports the study was triggered by 2015 legislation, cost $75,000 and looked at how realistic it would be for Wyoming to manage most of its federally owned public lands. It concluded Wyoming would not reap big revenue gains.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Tension mounted in a U.S. House race debate Thursday as Democrat Ryan Greene and Republican Liz Cheney traded a series of increasingly hostile barbs and even accused one another of relying on their parents to secure jobs for them. Cheney suggested that Greene, who owns his family's oilfield services company, is out of touch with the hard times encountered by recently laid-off Wyoming coal miners.
TORRINGTON, Wyo. (AP) — The mayor of Torrington has fired the city's police chief after a Goshen County Sheriff's Office investigation found he caused a hit-and-run accident that broke a utility pole. KTWO-AM reports that Mayor Mike Varney said Thursday that Police Chief Eric Sharp was terminated in connection to the Oct. 13 crash.
