LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California receiver Steven Mitchell Jr. will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee.

Mitchell has 24 catches for 226 yards and one touchdown as the top slot receiver for the Trojans (4-3, 3-2 Pac-12). He ranks third on the team in receptions behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Darreus Rogers.

Mitchell wasn't touched when he tore a ligament while making a cut on a punt return last Saturday during USC's 48-14 win over Arizona, the Trojans' third straight victory.

Deontay Burnett is likely to get more playing time in the absence of Mitchell, who has one year of eligibility remaining.

Mitchell also tore a ligament in his right knee prior to his first season at USC.
