This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

After Randy and Rock Wilson walked me through their Ogden facility, I asked them, "Why did you name your business R-n-R Carpet Center? You sure sell more than just carpets."

"You're absolutely right," Randy said. The fact is, carpeting was what helped Randy and Rock get in the floor covering business in the first place, and they didn't feel comfortable making a name change. R-n-R Carpet Center provides all types of floor coverings and carpeting selections from a variety of mills and suppliers. R-n-R also supplies wood-floor products and a wide variety of floor tiles, vinyl and laminates.

The two brothers opened their business in the summer of 1996. Randy had experience in sales from other large carpet and furniture distributors, and Rock became very proficient as an installer while he completed his college education.

Through the years, sales representatives from the major carpet companies had encouraged Randy to go into the carpet business. The reps promised Randy would have choice product lines and the "cream of the crop" if he decided to open his own establishment.

Randy and his wife, Janet, and Rock and his wife, Natasha, were risk takers, and they wanted to be entrepreneurs. They opened their first store on Wall Avenue and 12th Street. Business was good from the beginning, with every year showing a marked increase.

R-n-R has interior decorators on staff that work closely with customers to guarantee floor coverings that are harmonious and compatible with the décor of the home. This is just an added customer benefit offered by the Wilson brothers.

The business volume is practically divided equally between new homebuyers, contractors and customers who are remodeling or re-carpeting existing homes.

Rock and Randy are successful because they have great product knowledge and know the value of complete customer satisfaction.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
