LEHI — Lone Peak went into its Friday night game with a playoff berth on the line but without starting quarterback Dakota Hansen.

Not a problem for Cortland Niccum.

Backup quarterback Niccum scored twice on the ground and once through the air in relief to lead the Knights to a 41-14 win at Lehi in Friday night’s KSL Game of the Week, clinching a playoff bid and at least a share of the Region 4 championship.

BYU commit Jackson McChesney added a pair of touchdowns, including an 89-yard kick return for the Knights (7-1, 5-0 Region 4).

The Lone Peak defense also held Lehi standout quarterback Cammon Cooper to one touchdown pass. Cooper leads the state across all classifications with 28 touchdowns.

McChesney left in the second half after re-aggravating a shoulder injury suffered in last week’s 27-7 win at rival American Fork. Both McChesney and Hansen are day-to-day with shoulder injuries.

With the playoff bid wrapped up, the Knights end the regular season with back-to-back home games against Woods Cross and Herriman.
