NEW YORK (AP) — The Boston Red Sox have won the AL East, clinching the division championship when the Toronto Blue Jays lost to Baltimore. The Orioles got a two-run pinch-hit homer from Hyun Soo Kim in the top of the ninth to nip Toronto 3-2. That means the Orioles hold the second AL wild card, one game back of Toronto.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The World Series champions have failed to make the postseason for the fourth straight year. Kendrys Morales and Alex Gordon keyed an eighth-inning rally and Kansas City beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2, but the Royals were still knocked out of playoff contention when Baltimore won.

MIAMI (AP) — Somber Miami Marlins players and personnel escorted a hearse carrying the body of star pitcher Jose Fernandez from the team's ballpark Wednesday, as the farewell for their beloved teammate continues. Meanwhile, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio wants a safety probe into the rock jetty where a boat crash claimed the lives of the baseball star and two friends.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — Tim Tebow's (TEE'-bohz) instructional league debut for the Mets got off to a smashing start. The former NFL quarterback homered on the first pitch he saw in the game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Dallas Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant could be out Sunday in San Francisco with a hairline fracture in his right knee. Bryant didn't practice Wednesday, three days after the receiver was hurt in a win over Chicago, and an MRI that revealed the fracture.
