NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Transit agency has released video of a bus crash that claimed the lives of a driver and a passenger on her way to work.
The crash occurred Aug. 19 at around 6 a.m. in downtown Newark. Authorities have said a bus driven by 27-year NJ Transit veteran Joseph Barthelus was just starting its route and carrying no passengers when it slammed into the side of another bus carrying about 20 passengers at an intersection.
Jesy Garcia was a passenger on the second bus. She died several hours later at a hospital. Eighteen other people were hurt.
The surveillance video (http://7ny.tv/2dpsuDu) was made public Tuesday. It shows one bus crashing into the other.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
