This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Passion and verve. Verve and passion. Not to mention inner fortitude. These are the qualities of an entrepreneur, the rock and steel of his resolve, the conflagration of his determination.

Enter Curt and Irene Gardiner, two highly successful entrepreneurs. Curt and Irene opened their very own store, Gardiner's Sew & Quilt 28 years ago. It was the first store in northern Utah dedicated to the needs of quilters.

It was only natural for the Gardiners to start such a business. After all, they've had their fingers on the pulse of Utah's quilting scene for nearly half a century. In fact, the Gardiners organized the Ogden Quilt Guild, of which Irene remains an honorary, lifetime member.

Gardiner's Sew & Quilt is located at 2233 Grant Avenue in Ogden. The purpose of the store, indeed, the very motto of its employees, lies in one simple phrase, one guarantee, in fact, whose scope and range are bound only by the imagination of the store's customers: Everything For The Quilter.

This promise includes, but is not limited to, an unending supply of kits, scissors, patterns, how-to-books, classes, workshops, fabrics and quilting tools.

Curt told me that in recent years he and Irene have witnessed the public's interest in quilting grow and grow. That's because, said Curt, a quilt is no longer seen as an object whose function is solely to keep its owner warm, but rather, as one whose function is of an aesthetic nature.

But Curt and Irene's store isn't just for the pros. Classes are held throughout the year for quilters of all levels. The best way, said Curt, for people to find out about these and other activities is to visit Gardiner's Sew & Quilt and sign up to receive the store newsletter.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
