NEW YORK (AP) — Sandy'z Slew beat Dowse's Beach by a nose Friday in the $80,000 allowance feature for turf sprinters at Belmont Park.

The outcome required a three-way photo as the pacesetting Loose On the Town finished third, only a neck behind the top two.

Never worse than second at any point, Sandy'z Slew dug in for his first win in six starts this season.

John Velazquez rode for trainer Rick Schosberg as the 6-year-old gelding ran the six furlongs in 1:08.33.

Sandy'z Slew paid $10, $4.30 and $3.20.

Dowse's Beach returned $3.20 and $2.70 as the 2-1 favorite, and Loose On the Town paid $3 to show.
