PROVO — College football’s third week kicks off Thursday, but some pretty significant college basketball news dropped on Thursday.

BYU basketball’s recent addition of Princeton will be played as part of the ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, the worldwide sports broadcasting leader announced on Thursday. The game, which will be played Monday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. MT on ESPN2, will be the first men’s basketball game of the marathon and third overall.

Princeton was added to the schedule earlier this week, moving the Cougars’ original season opener against BYU-Hawaii to the exhibition game schedule on Nov. 9. The Cougars’ exhibition game against nearby Westminster College will be played in 2017-18.

The Tigers were 22-7 in 2015-16, including a second-place Ivy League finish at 12-2 and an 86-81 loss to Virginia Tech in the first round of the NIT.

The game will be the first meeting between the Cougars and Tigers since 1991, when BYU won 65-59 as part of the Cougar Classic. BYU is 4-0 all-time against Princeton.

BYU is one of three West Coast Conference schools represented in the marathon, all back-to-back-to-back. After BYU-Princeton, Gonzaga will host San Diego State at 10 p.m. MT on ESPN2 and Pacific will host Green Bay at midnight MT on ESPN2.

The WCC's three teams is tied with the Big 12 for the most by any conference.

The marathon ends with the State Farm Champions Classic, pitting Kentucky against Michigan State and Duke against Kansas.
