Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel changes. Vicki Varela is the newest member of the Utah Transit Authority Board of Trustees. Steven Christensen is the new chair of The Utah League of Credit Unions board of governors.

Webster University announced that its summer term will begin on May 26th. For registration information call 908-8044.

Wells Fargo was the title sponsor for the BYU/Wells Fargo High School Track Invitational that was held last week at Brigham Young University’s Cougar Track in Provo. About 4,000 high school athletes from 120 schools from seven western states participated.

Les Schwab Tire Centers announced the opening of its newest Utah location in Midvale at 144 West 7200 South. This joins the Les Schwab Centers in Salt Lake, Bountiful, Centerville, and Ogden. It is the 355th center nationwide.

Dr. Randal Ellsworth, recipient of the 2000 Utah Humanitarian of the Year Award, will speak at the Chamber’s next Breakfast of Champions on Thursday, May 15 at 7:30 a.m. at the Shriner’s Hospital. Come hear Dr. Ellsworth’s fascinating story as part of the Rose Foundation, an organization that operates three schools in Guatemala. In addition to teaching the basics, these schools also provide education in sanitation, English, computer skills and elementary biology. The goal is to help the students learn to help themselves and break the cycle of poverty. You will learn how giving service can enrich your life in ways you may never have imagined. Breakfast of Champions is a series of bi-monthly morning sessions designed to inspire, stimulate, challenge, and energize all who attend.
