THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER, WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT
According to Wells Fargo’s Wasatch Front Cost of Living Report, the cost of living along the Wasatch Front declined a modest 0.1 percent in November. This overturns last month’s increase. Lower gasoline prices more than offset cost gains in other categories. The longer-term trend now points to a slower rise in costs. Transportation costs dropped 0.9 percent in November. While nationally clothing costs fell 1.0 percent in November, the Wasatch Front saw a 1.4 percent increase
SkyWest Airlines estimates that as of the date of United Airlines’ bankruptcy filing, United owed SkyWest approximately $13.5 million dollars. If this obligation will not be met under the bankruptcy, SkyWest plans to offset amounts owed to United by SkyWest of approximately $4.1 million dollars. This leaves SkyWest’s net exposure to United’s bankruptcy at approximately $9.4 million dollars.
