The Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund is holding an Applicant Orientation on how small business entrepreneurs, especially those who are socially or economically disadvantaged, can receive loans of up to $10,000 dollars. The orientation is tomorrow, December 17th at 9:30 a.m. at 3595 South Main Street. To register call 269-8408.

Utah Symphony & Opera canceled its annual New Year's Eve concert. The annual event had seen a steady decline in ticket sales since the establishment of First Night.

In an annual study by Modern Healthcare magazine, Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City and Logan Regional Hospital have been named as two of the nation's 100 top hospitals. The hospitals, both Intermountain Health Care facilities, were selected from more than 2,236 hospitals. Hospitals were judged according to their quality and cost-effective care. Logan Regional Hospital made the top 100 for the second year in a row in the medium-size hospital category. Valley View Medical Center was listed for the fourth straight year in the small community hospital category.

Every year the Chamber honors the best small business successes at the Giant Step Small Business Awards. Nominations are being accepted through the end of December.
