THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER, WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel changes. Jane Reister Conard of Intermountain Health Care was elected to the board of the American Health Lawyers Association. The Manufacturing Extension Partnership has added four new members to its board of directors. They are Mike Loveless of Love-less Ash Company, Joe Knight of Setpoint, Lorri Kociniski-Puchlik of the ST. George Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Scott Hinton of Utah State University.

Creighton University released their October Mountain States Business Conditions index. According to the index, business conditions are relatively unchanged from September. Many respondents, however, expressed concern over the potential impact of a war with Iraq. The survey also showed that production is healthy--but that higher production was achieved with overtime and part-time workers--not by hiring new full-time workers.

According to the Volunteers of America, today is the Meier & Frank Charity Shopping Day. Volunteers of America is selling coupon books for the event that benefits over 100 non-profits in our community.

Networking is a historic strength of the Salt Lake Chamber. It is fitting then that the next Business After Hours is at the historic Peery Hotel on November 21st at 5 p.m. Come join hundreds of potential business partners for food, prizes, and networking. You’ll learn why the Chamber’s Business After Hours is Salt Lake’s best business networking event. To sign up call the Chamber at 328-5050 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
