Layton Construction recently remodeled an office building in West Valley City to become a new justice court. Layton remodeled 34,600 square feet of existing space and constructed an additional 6,000 to complete the project.

Intuit, Incorporated, a provider of financial software and Web-based services, has completed its acquisition of CBS Employer Services, the parent company of CBS Payroll. The acquisition enables Intuit to better serve smaller businesses that want to completely outsource their payroll function.

Engineering News-Record, a national construction magazine, recently ranked Big-D Construction third among the top 20 companies in the nation. The ranking was made according to revenues generated from food processing industry projects in 2001. Big-D’s revenue of $109 million dollars in food processing construction was approximately one-third of its total revenue for the year.

The American Express Women & Business Conference is next week on November 7th. This is the 26th year of this conference. There will be great workshops and, at the Athena Award Luncheon (sponsored by Wells Fargo Women’s Financial Services), the Chamber will give the prestigious Athena Award and the Pathfinder Awards. The Pathfinder award is given to community leaders who have a history of support for women and women’s issues.
