Deer Valley Resort was honored for being named the number 2 ski resort in North America this year by the readers of SKI magazine. Last season, Deer Valley was named number one in North America--the first time it had been recognized as such. This will be Deer Valley's 22nd season.

Friends For Sight, the charity formerly known as Prevent Blindness Utah, will honor 19 individuals as People of Vision tomorrow night at the Grand America Hotel. The 19 people are being honored for their role in bringing the 2002 Olympic Winter Games to Utah.

Harris Simmons, President and CEO of Zions Bancorporation, will be honored tomorrow afternoon with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah’s “Make a Difference” award.

The American Express Women & Business Conference is next week on November 7th. This is the 26th year of this conference. There will be great workshops and, at the Athena Award Luncheon (sponsored by Wells Fargo Women’s Financial Services), the Chamber will give the prestigious Athena Award and the Pathfinder Awards. The Pathfinder award is given to community leaders who have a history of support for women and women’s issues. One of this year’s Pathfinders is Utah Legislator Afton Bradshaw.
