SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church says it doesn't support a wealthy Mormon businessman's push to build sustainable, futuristic communities near religious landmarks in Utah and Vermont inspired by founder Joseph Smith's plans from 1833. Church officials have concerns about the developments affecting existing neighborhoods and the longstanding relationships the religion has with those residents.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A crucial vote on a Utah plan to lure a Facebook data center with up to $240 million in tax breaks will be postponed at least a week. Several cities and school districts were set to meet Monday to vote on whether to join forces to offer the tax incentives, but documents released Friday show the meeting has been canceled.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A former Utah County commissioner pleaded not guilty to charges that he took part in a scheme where he and a businessman posed as Mormon officials to scam companies out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ex-commissioner Gary Jay Anderson isn't accused in new charges filed against businessman Alan Dean McKee, who also pleaded not guilty in the original case.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The University of North Dakota is looking for ways to save money in its athletic department, and it could include a change in conference affiliation. New school President Mark Kennedy is taking inventory of athletics after the department ended the fiscal year with a shortfall of about $1.4 million. He has ordered a campus committee to analyze several factors, including the number of sports, the costs of the programs and the conference landscape.
