STONEWALL, La. (AP) — A student accused of bringing a gun to North DeSoto High School Wednesday will face charges.
According to a joint release from DeSoto Parish Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle and schools Superintendent Cade Brumley, a student Wednesday notified a teacher that they believed another student was in possession of a weapon on campus.
KTBS-TV (http://bit.ly/2bnpUNf ) reports the information was relayed to sheriff's deputies assigned to the school as resource officers and the student was detained.
A firearm was located. Authorities did not indicate whether it was loaded.
Sheriff's spokesman Blake Woodward says details about the student as to age or grade was not immediately available nor was the charges the student would face.
The news release indicated students or staff were not believed to be in danger.
