RUSTON, La. (AP) — The former department head for journalism at Louisiana Tech University will address the school's summer graduates this week.
The university says Reginald Owens, who is also the F. Jay Taylor Endowed Chair of Journalism at Tech, will serve as the keynote speaker for summer commencement exercises at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Owens retired last month after a 19-year career at Tech, where he also served as director of Tech's News Bureau and member of the University Communications Department. He worked closely with and mentored students of The Tech Talk student newspaper, Lagniappe student yearbook and SPEAK Magazine, all of which were nationally award-winning student media.
The Ruston Daily Leader reports (http://bit.ly/2aOSpmm ) graduates from each of Tech's five academic colleges and the Graduate School will receive diplomas.
