THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

The Utah Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development is sponsoring a Training Resources Vendor Fair on October 24th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair will be located at the Salt Lake Community College Metro Center. It will feature products and services for corporate and independent trainers. For more information go to www.astdutah.org.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation and Coldwell Banker Commercial are underwriting a documentary entitled “America Rebuilds.” The documentary will be shown today on PBS.

Here’s a Chamber History Fact: In 1902, no general business organization existed in Salt Lake City. With the railroad contemplating building a short cut across the Great Salt Lake to Ogden, the business leaders of Salt Lake City quickly organized. Their goal was to convince the railroad to make the short cut to Salt Lake City instead of Ogden. Unfortunately, it was too late to change the railroad’s mind. But the organization those business leaders created, the Commercial Club, still exists. Today it’s known as the Salt Lake Chamber.

This Saturday, September 14th, the Salt Lake Chamber is remembering 100 years of business. We’re coming together for a Century Celebration Gala at the Grand America. Questar and Stoel Rives sponsor the event. At the Gala we will honor over 100 of the people who gave extraordinary volunteer service to the community. Call the Chamber now to reserve your space at 328-5050 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
