MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — AltaPointe Health Systems and Cheaha Regional Mental Health have officially merged, making AltaPointe the largest and most comprehensive behavioral HealthCare provider in the state.
According to a news release on Monday the merger was effective Aug. 1.
Tuerk Schlesinger, AltaPointe CEO said in the news release that, "The southwest and central northeast regions of Alabama now have a better, broader-based system in place to provide additional as well as more accessible behavioral health care services."
The news release says the merger expands AltaPointe's service area of Mobile, Washington and Baldwin counties to include Clay, Coosa, Randolph and Talladega counties. AltaPointe now will employ 1,450 people and provide treatment to more than 30,000 individuals annually.
Schlesinger says there were no buyouts, downsizing or layoffs to complete the merger.
