This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
These days, more of us are visiting gyms and health clubs than ever before, and the number of facilities across the country is at an all-time high. So it's interesting to note that one of the leading manufacturers of exercise equipment is a company located right here in Utah. The name--Hoggan Health Industries. But for anyone who actively attends a health club, Hoggan's products of Camstar and Sprint Circuit Training are probably more recognizable.
The Draper-based company's origins date back to 1961. Dean Hoggan opened a machine shop in his garage to make parts for automated laundry machines. The business did well and Dean expanded the operations. But in 1977, the company chose a new direction when it bought a health equipment manufacturer and established a commitment to build the best exercise equipment available. Within six years, the company had proven itself with the introduction of its CamStar rehabilitation and exercise machines. And not long after, Hoggan introduced its Sprint Circuit Training line, one of the first lines of fully enclosed, general conditioning exercise machines. Sprint Circuit includes a series of cardiovascular machines that require no electricity and very little space to operate. Three of the most popular machines are the Sprint Upper Body Ergometer, the Sprint Elliptical and the Sprint Walk Thru Recumbent Bike.
At about the same time that Hoggan introduced its Sprint line, the company was also developing a medical diagnostic device for manual muscle testing. It became known as the Force Evaluation and Testing System or FET. The device became popular within the medical market, and Hoggan now offers three versions--two of which were the first designs of their kind.
Hoggan has also developed a user-friendly line of dumbbells and racks, which have been called the best in the business.
So next time you're exercising or for those of you in the rehabilitation or medical field, look for any of these products and know they come from our own Hoggan Health Industries.
