The Chamber’s Downtown Committee announced principles for downtown development. Guideline three is: “The synergy of corporate, nonprofit, education, and government leadership located in the downtown area is a major factor to the success of the downtown community. The Salt Lake Chamber, its development partners, and Salt Lake City government will encourage new corporate headquarters to locate in the downtown area, and will support existing corporate headquarters to remain downtown. The Chamber will encourage all new government offices, where possible, to be located downtown.”

ClearOne Communications announced the completion of its acquisition of E.mergent Inc. following approval from E.mergent's stockholders.

ArosNet, a local Internet service provider, announced the availability of SpamAssassin, a software that controls unwanted email.

Salt Lake City International Airport statistics report 1,454,681 passengers used the airport in April. This is down 5.4 percent from last year.

Here’s a Chamber History Fact: The Chamber was called The Chamber of Commerce and Commercial Club of Salt Lake City, Utah from 1922 until it changed its name in 1943 to the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce.
