SALT LAKE CITY — Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham announced Thursday morning that receiver Cory Butler-Byrd has been suspended indefinitely.
Whittingham said Butler-Byrd is "dealing with personal issues and has been suspended from our team indefinitely,” Whittingham said.
Butler-Byrd will remain on scholarship during the suspension, but will not be participating in team activities. The reason for Butler-Byrd's suspension was not immediately known.
Butler-Byrd was expected to be a starter at the slot receiver position after spending his junior season almost exclusively on defense. Butler-Byrd's only reception last season was a 54-yard touchdown reception against Cal.
