This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

I want to pay tribute today to someone whose work over the years has resulted in a substantial contribution to business in Richfield and the surrounding communities. That someone is Ferral Huntsman. For 38 years, Ferral has successfully served as a dedicated community banker to Utah's south central area. Today, he retires from that successful career and so it is with pleasure that we reflect on his accomplishments.

Born and raised in Aurora, Ferral graduated from North Sevier High School and received a degree from the Colorado School of Banking.

He began his career in 1964 as the manager of First State Bank of Salina's branch offices in Panguitch and Kanab. Ferral opened Valley Central Bank in Richfield in 1972 and served as the bankÕs president and chairman of the board for 19 years. Under Ferral's leadership, Valley Central Bank was profitable from the very first year it opened.

Ferral joined Zions Bank back in 1991. From his office in Richfield, he served as the South Central Utah area president

Ferral has always taken an active role in the community. He was a major factor in helping bring Snow College South to Richfield. He was a member of Snow College's Board of Trustees and its Foundation Board. He is the past president of the Richfield Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Association. And he currently chairs the fundraising committee for the new Multi-Event Center in Richfield.

Though Ferral officially retires today, he will continue to remain active in other pursuits. He will serve on Zions Bank's area advisory board for south central Utah, and he and his wife Gyann plan to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

So we applaud Ferral Huntsman on his outstanding career and continuous community involvement. Zions Bank in Richfield is hosting an open house for Ferrel today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The community is invited to attend.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
