The Chamber’s Downtown Committee has developed principles for downtown revitalization. Guideline six is: “The success of downtown is dependent upon strong leadership. The Salt Lake Chamber encourages the Mayor and City Council of Salt Lake City to convene a gathering of major property owners/stakeholders to focus on downtown and Main Street Development. The Chamber encourages the use of government tools to create economic incentives for quality development. With this call for leadership, the Chamber pledges to support the City.”

The Utah Microenterprise Loan Fund is holding an orientation on how small business entrepreneurs, especially those who are socially or economically disadvantaged, can obtain small business loans of up to $10,000. The orientation is Wednesday, June 12th, at 3 p.m. Call 269-8408 to register.

The Summit Group, a Salt Lake City-based advertising agency, received a national promotion of the year award from Subway, the nation's largest franchise organization. The company was named "Best in Show" and received the Best Local Promotion award.

Here’s a Chamber History Fact: The Chamber was originally called the Commercial Club until 1922 when it changed its name to The Chamber of Commerce and Commercial Club of Salt Lake City, Utah.
