THIS IS LARRY MANKIN FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

Several Salt Lake businesses report personnel changes. Wasatch Environmental, an environmental engineering firm, has hired Bruce A. Brown as senior project manager in its Environmental Sciences and Engineering group. Big-D Construction announced the hiring of Mike Phillips as Vice President of Pre-Construction, Robert Sasser as Business Development Manager, and Larry Worrell as Chief Financial Officer.

The Chamber’s Downtown Committee has developed principles for downtown development. Guideline three is: “The synergy of corporate, nonprofit, education, and government leadership located in the downtown area is a major factor to the success of the downtown community. The Salt Lake Chamber, its development partners, and Salt Lake City government will encourage new corporate headquarters to locate in the downtown area, and will support existing corporate headquarters to remain in the downtown area. The Chamber will encourage all new government offices, where possible, to be located in the downtown area.”

Wasatch Baskets & Gifts, a gift-basket company that gives a portion of its profits to the Huntsman Cancer Center, was recently featured in The Park Record newspaper.

Here’s a Chamber History Fact: In 1923, U.S. President Warren G. Harding was honored at a luncheon at the Chamber’s Commercial Club headquarters.

It is less than one week away from the Chamber Classic Golf Tournament next Monday, June 10th. Join Utah’s top business leaders for a round of golf at beautiful Jeremy Ranch. Call the Chamber for more information at 328-5055, or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
