Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah has been named one of the state’s ten most family-friendly companies for the third consecutive year. The state Department of Workforce Services gives the awards to companies that help their employees strike a balance between their personal and professional lives.
The Spa Club, a full-service spa located in Fort Union, has added three new services to its menu. The Spa Club now offers Hot Stone Therapy Massage, a new Oatmeal Pedicure, and an Enzyme Peel One Hour Facial.
The Rose Shop in Sandy has opened a new garden nursery center at 1910 East 10600 South in Sandy.
Larkin Mortuary will host a free public Memorial Day Service next Monday May 27th at 10 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. Jim Matheson will be speaking and U.S. Marines Company C will conduct a Flag Ceremony and 21-Gun Salute.
Here’s a Chamber History Fact: Smoke pollution from burning coal was a major concern of the Chamber during the first half of the last century. In the 1920’s the Chamber’s Smokeless City Committee lobbied the City to pass anti-pollution ordinances. From the top of the Walker Bank building, smoke inspectors would scan the sky for violators and the Chamber even provided an airplane for smoke surveillance.
