This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
If you've traveled to Las Vegas recently and had the chance to visit any of the large resorts, then you've seen some of the best examples of what is called theme architecture. I'm talking about the way many of the hotels have been built to reflect certain topics or recreate well-known places.
Well a Utah company can be credited for some of that amazing work. It's called Western Architectural Services, and since 1987, the Draper-based company has specialized in creating custom architectural pieces.
Tracy Jones, the company's CEO, told me that Western Architectural's mission is to utilize excellent design and technology to increase their clients' competitiveness and profitability while meeting their customized needs. He said it means building a vision and executing a project with excellent craftsmanship and hard work from blueprints through completion.
With that kind of philosophy, Western Architectural has developed a considerable customer base. The company's core market includes hotels and casinos, churches, office buildings, commercial buildings and theme parks. The company's notable projects have included the Statue of Liberty at Vegas' New York New York Hotel and Casino; the Egyptian statues in the Luxor; the Venetian Hotel's water fountain; the elephants adorning LA's new Kodak Theater; and here at home, the trees in the Mayan restaurant at Jordan Commons.
The company also manufacturers products for residential projects. They've done everything from columns, domes, mouldings and frames to full-scale replications.
And all of it is done with a staff of 40 employees made up of consultants, designers, sculptors and artists.
Tracy said the buildings and details Western Architectural creates are meant to entice the imagination of all who enter them and keep them returning. For his clients, it can ultimately mean monetary gain and business growth. For him and the team at Western Architectural Services, it's a sign of successful design.
