SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, holds its monthly workshop on "How to Set Up and Operate a Small Business" tomorrow, March 20th, at 8:45 a.m. The workshop is at the Salt Lake County Office, 2001 South State Street. For more info, call 741-4251

Wells Fargo Home Mortgage nearly doubled its Native American loan volume last year and established a new annual record for Native American financing.

Richter7, a Salt Lake Ad agency, took home the most awards at the 2002 Utah Advertising Federation’s ADDY awards. Richter7 received 28 ADDY Awards, 61 Citations of Excellence, and Best of Show. These are the most awards one agency has ever received at the Utah ADDY Awards.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: According to Jon Kemp writing in the Utah Department of Workforce Services’ Trendlines, growth prospects are most favorable in the first three years following the Games. However, because of increased investment and development before the Games, there may be some economic volatility while excess capacity is absorbed.

Don’t miss Salt Lake’s biggest event for small business: the Chamber’s Giant Step Awards on March 27th at the Little America Hotel. The speaker at this year’s banquet is Scott Watterson, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of ICON Health and Fitness. Scott helped turn ICON into the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of fitness equipment. Call the Chamber for more information at 328-5055 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
