This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

With NBC broadcasting the Winter Games, the popular Today show has taken on an overall Olympic theme. The show has aired from Salt Lake and reported on the Games. But certainly an important factor for lending Today an Olympic feel has been its opening musicóa piece written and produced by Utah-based Non-Stop Music.

In fact the 20-year-old company, known worldwide for creating original scores of high-quality orchestral pieces, produced the theme Today has used for the past few years. Before that, it was Good Morning America, and there have been several numbers for ABC Sports, NBC News and ESPN. And thatís only the beginning. The list of credits includes nearly every major network, several media giants, big-name manufacturers and a myriad of television and movie trailers. In Utah, the company has produced music for all of the local TV stations and created jingles for several advertisers, including Omniserve Wireless, the Utah Travel Council, Harmons, Chuck-A-Rama and Zions Bank.

And this isnít the first time Non-Stop has produced Olympic-style music. The scores the company created for the Calgary games in 1988 won it an Emmy. And currently the International Broadcast Feed for these Winter Games has licensed Non-Stopís library of compositions, making it available worldwide for use in Olympic-related TV news programs.

But Non-Stopís success today as a prolific music production company is quite a contrast from the way it all began in 1981. Company founders Randy Thornton and Bryan Hofheins believed they could corner the market in the news music business. Theyíre first attempts to sell music failed. But they finally attracted a couple of clients after distributing several free copies of their work. And those two clients have led over time to the lengthy list they have today.

Besides producing music and licensing its library of compositions, Non-Stop also owns LA East Studios, a state-of-the-art recording facility located in Salt Lake. And through work with talented musicians, the company is now among the top five of its kind in the world. Itís a position well deserved and one that is certain to keep it making music nonstop.

For Zions Bank, Iím Fred Ball. Iím speaking on business.
