CINCINNATI (AP) — Reds first baseman Joey Votto (VAH'-toh) will try to continue his torrid post-All-Star-game pace when Cincinnati hosts Arizona. Votto has hit safely in all seven games since the break, going 12 for 23 with a double, three homers, eight RBIs and seven walks.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Jeff Gordon will be back behind the wheel today for qualifying for the Brickyard 400, a race he's won five times. The four-time Cup champion has come out of a brief retirement to drive two races in place of Dale Earnhardt Jr., who's suffering from a concussion.
OAKVILLE, Ontario (AP) — U.S. Open champ Dustin Johnson and Luke List head into today's third round of the Canadian Open tied for the lead at 7 under par. Canadian amateur Jared du Toit, former Arizona State teammate Jon Rahm and Kelly Kraft are a shot back.
