The Salt Shakers, the goodwill ambassadors of the Salt Lake Chamber, have recently installed new officers. Phil Riesen has been elected to serve as Head Shaker, or president. Bob Kooyman was elected as Vice Head Shaker. Kathy Gardner was elected as Salt Spreader—coordinating with other chambers of commerce. And John Pitcher was elected as Salty Scribe or financial officer.

According to the Utah Division of Travel Development, in 2000, travel and tourism contributed $4.25 billion dollars to the Utah economy, generated over 125,000 jobs, and added $340 million dollars to state and local government.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: Intermountain Health Care will staff 35 temporary medical clinics during the Games. These clinics are anticipated to see about 10,000 patients during the games.

The Chamber’s Century Club is the center of business during the Games. Named after the Chamber’s 100th anniversary, The Century Club is 10,000 square feet of hospitality, food, entertainment, and networking. And at only $150 per person per day for Chamber members, any business can entertain their best clients, employees, and other VIPs. For more information call the Chamber at 328-5067 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
