THIS IS MICHAEL DE GROOTE FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT

The Chamber Board of Governors has issued a resolution supporting organ and tissue donation. The Chamber encourages public awareness and education dealing with this important issue. Organ and tissue donation saves lives.

Sonitrol, a security company that uses sound to reduce false alarms, had their grand opening last week at 3539 South Main in Salt Lake. The Chamber’s Salt Shakers did the ribbon cutting ceremony. If you are interested in a ribbon cutting for your event, call the Chamber at 328-5080.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: The Olympic Winter Games are like a huge spotlight—and it is important that the state works on a consistent message to the world. Otherwise, too many messages become confusing. Governor Leavitt has been working on key messages about Utah that he wants the world to hear. In the coming weeks the Metro Business Report will review these messages.

It is only one week away from the 25th Annual American Express Women & Business Conference on October 30th. There will be great workshops and also the giving of the prestigious Athena Award and the Pathfinder Awards. The Pathfinder award is given to community leaders who have a history of support for women and women’s issues. One of this year’s Pathfinders is Marsha Fetzer. To register, call the Women’s Business Center at the Chamber at 328-5091 or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
