THIS IS LARRY MANKIN FROM THE SALT LAKE CHAMBER WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT.

SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives, holds its monthly workshop on "How to Set Up and Operate a Small Business" this Wednesday, October 17th, at 8:45 a.m. The workshop is at the Salt Lake County Office, 2001 South State Street. For more info, call 741-4251.

FJCandN, a Salt Lake advertising agency, received two merit awards from the Outdoor Advertising Association of America. The awards were for their “Drugs on the job can affect your judgment” billboard campaign.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: Unless you have a transportation plan for your business during the Games, you are going to have problems. It is important for businesses to understand what is going to happen and make plans now.

The Chamber has two great events this week. The first event is a Gold Medal Seminar that will help your business make transportation plans for the Olympic Winter Games. The Gold Medal Seminar, sponsored by Office Depot, is this Wednesday, October 17th, at 7:30 a.m. at the WestCoast Salt Lake Hotel, 161 West 600 South. The second event is the 5th Annual International Festival. The International Festival is a networking event that brings together companies from around the world. The International Festival is this Thursday, October 18th at 5 p.m. at the Chamber. To register for the Gold Medal Seminar or the International Festival, call the Chamber at 364-3631, or see us on the web at saltlakechamber.org.
