The Meridian School in Provo has been offering educational experiences since 1989. It is a parent-founded, non-profit, non-sectarian school that offers Pre-K through 12th grade college preparatory courses.
I visited with Jill Taylor, the headmaster at Meridian, and asked her about the name. She told me that the word means, "the highest point," or the "culmination." William Shakespeare said, "I have touched the highest point of all my greatness.. that full meridian of my glory." The Meridian School offers students individual attention from competent and caring teachers who guide and encourage students to achieve their greatest potential, or as Shakespeare said, "their full meridian of glory."
The Meridian School offers strong academic training, but also offers excellent drama, music, foreign languages and cultural exchange programs. The school's annual musicals are popular events in the Utah County community.
Jill was enthusiastic as she explained why Meridian is different from other educational opportunities. Class size was a strong point. The small class size provides a teacher student ratio of 1 to 14. The fine arts department offers excellent training in choir, ballroom dancing, art and music. Foreign language instruction starts in elementary classes and German and French exchange programs are offered where students live with host families.
During the 2001 National Merit Scholarship competitions, Meridian students showed superior results. They have won first place in the Utah State Math Competition in the 1A class for five years. The Utah American Chemical Society presented them the Outstanding Chemistry Teacher and Students awards, and they received superior and excellent ratings in the Model United Nations Competitions plus numerous other awards.
I don't know of any parent who isn't interested in and desirous of obtaining the very best education for their children. As you know, "Knowledge is power." Jill Taylor and the Meridian School give parents and students an opportunity to receive a first-class college preparatory education.
