BUENA VISTA, Colo. (AP) — One person is dead after a small plane crashed and burned Monday afternoon north of Buena Vista.
Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze says the single-engine plane went down in a field several miles north of town, about 4 miles north of the airport.
Spezze says investigators are still trying to determine the name of the pilot.
He says one witness reported hearing the engine sputter, but authorities are still trying to determine the cause.
