SALT LAKE CITY — Trevor Booker has signed a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for approximately $18 million over the course of two years, sources confirmed to KSL.com. The deal was first reported by the Salt Lake Tribune.

Booker, originally signed in the summer of 2014, quickly became a fan favorite in Utah because of his hustle and ability on the boards. Booker averaged 6.5 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game as a member of the Jazz.

Booker, though, found himself falling on the depth chart after the emergence of Trey Lyles, who gave Quin Snyder more shooting and flexibility from the power forward position.

The pickup is an interesting one for the Brooklyn Nets, and Booker may even start on the power forward-light squad, which traded Thaddeus Young 10 days ago. The Nets won just 21 games last season in the Eastern Conference. He should bring some measure of toughness and leadership to a relatively young team.
