THIS IS LARRY MANKIN FROM THE SALT LAKE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WITH YOUR METRO BUSINESS REPORT.

Creighton University’s Mountain States Business Conditions survey shows that in contrast to the rest of the nation, the Mountain States continue to experience solid economic growth. Increases were reported in new orders, production, and prices paid.

MassMutual, represented in Utah by Intermountain Financial Group, has launched a new annuity product called MassMutual Artistry. The 403(b) product is designed for employees of education, churches, hospitals, and other non-profit organizations.

Salt Lake Community College recently was ranked in the nation’s top 25 in eight different categories including health professions, precision production trades, arts and sciences, and business management.

Here’s an Olympic business fact: The Salt Lake Organizing Committee will be dressing up the city with gigantic colorful images mounted on high-rise buildings in downtown Salt Lake. The Chamber Board of Governors encourages businesses to cooperate with this effort by not selling similar space on their buildings to advertisers.

This week is the Chamber’s 21st annual Utah Business Week. Utah Business Week is a week long business “boot camp” for youth. High School students from around Utah are at Utah State University learning how the free enterprise system works. Through skits, classes, activities, field trips, and a little friendly competition, the students have fun while learning what makes a successful business.
