PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The boyfriend of a Philadelphia woman whose 4-year-old daughter apparently shot herself to death has surrendered.

Demetrius Williams is the boyfriend of 25-year-old Shakeia Holmes, who was charged last week with third-degree murder and trying to cover up what happened.

Police say it appears the girl shot herself in the right eye on June 24.

Police had an arrest warrant on charges including involuntary manslaughter against Williams before he surrendered Thursday night.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Williams or his custody status.

Police say the shooting occurred in a second-floor bedroom of a North Philadelphia home. The girl died about an hour later.
