Creations West Inc. has been designing home plans for over 20 years. During that time, it has become recognized as one of the leaders in the country in home plan design and plan sales. The company has been featured in Builder magazine, and back in 1992, Creations West created every home that was featured in the Home Builders Association’s Northern Wasatch “Parade of Homes.” Since that time, the company has continually had a presence in the parade each year. And its designs have received many awards, including “Best of Show” and “Peoples Choice.”
Creations West has designed homes for Davis, Weber, Cache and Morgan counties. The many accolades the company has received stand as proof of the tremendous impact it has made in architecture along the Wasatch Front and northern Utah.
Creations West is a relatively small company. Though it consists of only five employees, the group manages to produce between 500 and 600 house plan sales a year. It’s work that involves designing custom plans, providing modification services for existing plans and marketing stock plans. Recently, Creations West has been able to expand throughout the world thanks to the Internet. The company’s Web site at creationswest.com features hundreds of plans that range from the most affordable to the most luxurious.
Scott Hughes is the company’s president. He is a professional member of the American Institute of Building Designers. And for 24 years, he has been designing homes, a skill he learned the old-fashioned way or as he says, on the job site. Scott has been involved with many areas of the building trade. He has worked as a framer, a backhoe operator, a finish carpenter and a surveyor, among other things.
Jason Lichfield serves as vice president. He combines his skills in computer design with a unique artistic ability. The combination has earned Jason a reputation as one of the best designers around. Cory Grey, Stephen Merrell and Michelle Minns complete the staff of five. Cory uses his skills with computer-aided design to modify existing plans, update hand-drawn plans and generate working drawings of custom designs. Wendy manages the office, and Stephen recently joined the company to help keep up with demand.
