NEW YORK, Aug 5, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A New York antiques dealer being sued by France over an allegedly stolen medieval Torah has filed a lawsuit against Christie's for first selling it to him.

Yosef Goldman, whose business is located in Brooklyn, argues that the auction house should return the $358,000 he paid for the Torah, which was created in the 13th century, the New York Post reported.

Christie's said it believes Goldman's claim is "baseless."
