This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Utah's little town of Midway, located just 10 minutes or so from Park City, sits nestled up against the Wasatch Range with the mountains surrounding it much like a protective wall. It reminds us of another place-a place in Europe we know as Switzerland. And so it is that Midway has taken on a Swiss look.
Business in Midway is diverse. But it's the Swiss charm coupled with the resort lifestyle that probably makes it famous. And that's the very reason Kent and Pauline Perry ventured into owning the uniquely wonderful Inn On The Creek resort.
Built eight years ago, the Swiss-style inn has welcomed many guests from throughout Utah and other states as well. Kent and Pauline liked the inn's location because Midway has so much to offer. Several of Utah's best downhill ski and snowboard resorts are just minutes away as well as cross-country skiing.
In the summer, guests can fly fish for German Brown and Rainbow Trout in the area's many streams or golf on adjacent professional courses. There is also horseback riding, mountain biking on the ski resort runs, hiking and boating. Kent and Pauline told me that many guests enjoy just strolling along the inn's walking paths and viewing the surrounding mountain beauty.
The couple recently spent a million dollars renovating the inn to give it an even more European feel. For accommodations, guests can choose from a variety of rooms that range from secluded two-person suites to five bedroom chalets fit for a family. Every room, designed with a different décor, includes an intimate fireplace, a walkout balcony and an oversized jetted bathtub. As innkeeper, the inn features a kilt-bearing Irishman (who might I add is also Pauline's father).
Guests will enjoy an exquisite menu featuring exotic appetizers and main courses such as grilled veal, Utah trout and marinated pork. And best of all, the restaurant is open to the public so you don't have to be a guest of the inn to indulge. Inn On The Creek has also launched its brand of gourmet soups that are sold in Sam's Clubs nationwide.
For those of us here in Utah, we don't have to travel far to experience Europe's best-not with Midway's Inn On The Creek in our own backyard.
