According to April’s Mountain States Business Conditions Survey, the overall economic index rose slightly from March. The rise is attributed to strong energy prices, however the survey reveals a drop in the employment index with a prediction for rising unemployment in the coming months.
FJC and N, a Salt Lake advertising firm, has won best in show at the American Institute of Graphic Arts 100 Award Show. The award was given for the brochure they designed for Jacobsen Construction.
Here’s an Olympics business fact: During the Sydney Olympics, 87 percent of retailers expected a sales increase. The actual results were different. Retailers located close to Olympic venues reported increases of up to 70%, but retailers farther away reported a decrease in sales. This decrease may be due to the number of Sydney residents who took vacations away from Sydney during the Olympics.
